I am pleased to announce that we have a second Administrator now for the MCR forum, Dave Shreeve.
Dave will be familiar to most regular users of the forum and indeed members of the MCR.
Since the forum was started back in September 2005 it's use has grown month on month. This month we hit 24 users logged in at the same time.
I am sure you will join me in thanking Dave for helping out and I am quite sure he will stand for no nonsense as well!

Thanks. From my experience I'm not expecting a lot of trouble. I believe I'll work on the same basis as Robert but I've a little more time to float in and out to keep an eye on things. During my time on the board I can only recall one occasion when I thought things were getting a little close to the edge, 2 hours later Robert decided it had overstepped the mark and withdrew the thread. I expect things to continue 'business as usua'l but hopefully requests to move posts I can act on and regular users may notice a reduction in registered users as we try to clear out the non posting members with porn/drug related homepages.

I saw a really dodgy looking user name this evening which was bang out of order and there's been a lot of odd names appearing who never post.
As long as our fun continues with a certain internet auction site I'm sure most of us will be happy

Sadly there are quite a lot of dodgy names which we need to clear up. There is a routine we could run which would remove all users who have not posted. I don't really want to run it as I suspect we have a good few legitimate users who just view the forum.
I am also waiting for the forum to be upgraded to the latest version of the software this promises better control over these spam users.

Hi Robert,
I guess it's a case of trying to be one step ahead of these people which is not easy.
As you say it's not fair to wipe all non-posters off as many just like to view (unlike myself )

I have just looked at the memberlist and it's pretty easy to spot the bogus ones - they have a random name, come from a place that don't exist and have no postings.
Get rid of them !!!
