Hi to all Kiwi MCR members. I will be in New Zealand on holiday for the whole of November this year. I am not sure if I can go a month without a Mini "fix". Can any of the Kiwi members using this forum let me know if there are any Mini shows (or any other motorsport/classic events) going on in N.Z. during November. Thanks.

I will look into that and let you know,

Here in Christchurch (are you coming this far south?) we have a small but enthusiastic unofficial group of Mk1/2 Coopers, I would be happy to organise a get together that is in November.

James.

Now that is what this forum is all about, like minded people sharing the experience. Keep it up. :D I wish I was in the area. Gray

Hi Ka2s4, thanks for the responce. I will be in Christchurch. We fly out from there on Saturday November 29th but intend to stay in the area for a few days before hand anyway. We will be on South Island from the 17th November. I have an early MK2 Cooper currently stripped to a rolling shell. Hopefully the shell will be going off to The Ennion Workshop soon. Visited him a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed with the quality of his work.

Cheers

Hi Paul,

What time do you fly out on the Saturday?

We normally do a run late in the year, so could be a good chance for you to meet us and our cars and cruise to Akaroa or something.

If you are not in CH CH in the weekend, then I'm sure I could take you round to visit a few people of an evening.

There is plenty to see and do in the two weeks you have in the South Island, so don't go out of your way for us, but if you are in the area, then certainly!

Hi James,

We have to get the rental car back to the rental company by 5pm on Saturday 29th.

We will have the full day in Christchurch on that Saturday (and probably a few days before) so it would be good to meet some of you guys and have a look at your cars.

If you were organising an end of year run/gathering anyway I would love to come and meet up on the Saturday, but I would not want you to do anything special on my account!

Shall I contact you closer to the time and see how things are with you guys then? If you do however hear of anything else going on I would be very interested. Last time we were in NZ we were lucky enough to see the WRC Super Special Stages at Manakau and go to Taupo Circuit and watch the Super Mini Challenge etc.

Cheers

Paul

The Whittakers Classic Car meeting is organised by the MG Car Club at Manfeild Raceway in Palmerston North - weekend of 15/16 Nov this year. There are always a few good Minis racing there amongst the 300 or so classic cars.

Palmerston North is about 2 hours north of Wellington. The South Island is quite scenic but its full of losers and its as dull as dishwater. All the actions up north.

You obviously don't live there. It used to be the second dullest town in the North Island after Hamilton, but Hamilton has a round of the Aussie V8 Supercars this weekend so they have briefly changed places.

Right James,

Here you go then.  I will be in New Zealand in 2011 for the rugby world cup, can you arrange a get together for me then?  Seriously I will be there for as long as Scotland are in the competition so I would love to meet up with some of our southern hemisphere colleagues.

Keep in touch

Graeme
