What a great idea - we'll all be trying that one :D:D

Looking at the picture with that green monstrosity inside (aka Dash of the week) I reckon he's omitted some up to date pictures as the car looks white :?

I reckon Norton's wife will be thrashing him around the house when she finds out how much he's spent on the car :P

My attitude is........

If you're going to get beaten up by your wife for spending too much money, you might as well make it worth while:D

:D:D We all seem to think along the same lines on that one :D:D

Trouble is it's then difficult to argue back when other half wants to buy a new wardrobe (or to be exact, the contents of a wardrobe).

The 'at least the money I spend is an investment' tack does not work very well and should be avoided  :P

Unfortunately I can't even convince myself that its an investment any more..... I reckon I've spent more than it will ever be worth :X

Its a good job we're not in this for the money isn't it!:)

I reckon I'm up to a total of 15k so far.... And its worth maybe 12......? (if I'm lucky!):?

Ahh.. another theory that I can't use.... My pub budget is enormous! :D

Half the money has gone towards getting someone else to do the work, whilst I go the the pub... err I mean.. work very hard all day in London:P

I agree that we're all in the same boat pretty much and will not usually make money out of our Minis.  However, we will (hopefully) create the car we wanted, will have fun doing it and, should we wish to sell in the future, will at least see a reasonable part of our 'investment' back, on the basis that these will always be fairly desirable cars.

As we've said before, drastic 'personalising' of a car probably reduces its value rather because it will appeal to fewer people.  Most buyer of older Minis are wanting something in reasonably standard form.

Compared with putting the money into a new or fairly new secondhand car the money is generally safer in a classic Mini anyway......We all have to budget and I personally choose to run moderately modest modern vehicles that don't cost too much and leave a bit over to run a classic car or two as well:).   We're lucky to have that choice I suppose but most people have at least one extravagance!

Seems to be the case here as the £8575 spent is currently attracting a bid of £101.99 :(
