How can I be sure whether I have Metro front hub casting / balljoints or Mini type? I have Metro vented discs/ 4 pot calipers, (fitted to my Mini a few years ago) but can't remember what hubs were used. I seem to remember even mk1 Metro balljonts were sealed type probably with no grease nipples in the hub casting?
The hubs on my Mini have grease nipples and the balljoints look like Mini ones to me so can anyone confirm the differences without me dismantling the suspension? Thanks.
Reason for asking is the steering does not seem to self-centre much so I guess caster angle is out but if its not Metro hubs causing it I think a tie bar may be bent.
Does anyone recommend the heavy duty adjustable tie bars & whats the best way to set them up correctly?

I've had heavy duty adjustable tie-bars fitted to my Mini for several years and we just fitted them set-up to the original lengths.

Okay 1 of my original bendy tie-bars was bent, but we fitted them at the standard settings and I've had no problems since.

And yes the ball-joints usually have to be stripped down to remove and fit the new tie-bars.

As to your Hubs/Ball joints.

If they look like mini ones, then they are. The Metro ones are noticably different, as you say they're sealed. They also have a male tread on the ball joint and a female on the hub assy.
