Unfortunately I can't attatch the pics because the files are too big, but I've just bought myself a Mulberry Red Mini 40, and wondered if anyone can tell me more about them. I think that there were 3 colours; white, red and blue!? and possibly 150 made of each colour!?

Also, if anyone has any mini 40 memorabilia then I would be interested in buying it; anything like brochures etc...

Out of interest, should there be anything with the car like a certificate or presentation pack, or was that not linked to these limited editions??

Cheers!

Hi Matt, i've just seen the photo on the other thread and your Mini 40 looks mint!

I don't know any facts or figures myself, other than they were lavishly equipped limited edition Minis.

I don't have any brochures either, but I know Rover issued a very nice Mini 40 brochure that played happy birthday when you opened it up. I've never seen the brochure in the flesh, but examples do turn up on E-Bay occasionally and although i've bid for a few, i've never been lucky yet because they go for silly money. I want one though, because i've got a Mini brochure collection and this is one item I don't have.

I don't think Rover supplied any fancy books or documents with the cars (I could be wrong though?). I do know if you purchased a 1989 Mini 30 back in 1989, that it came with a leather bound copy of a Mini after 30 years book which was held in a neat Mini history packaging.

Anyway I think this site will be of interest to you, so why not register there, because their sure to know all the facts:-

Thanks for the link taffy :) I think I'll give registration with them a go! Wow, the brochures sound really good - I think that I will be looking out for one now - hopefully as well as taking delivery of the car this week, I will be receiving one of the Corgi models which I managed to get on ebay last night too.

I think one approach I may take to find out a little more is to get in touch with the previous owners as were stated on the V5 and see what they can tell me. I am amazed by how much some of the brochures go for! I have some recent brochures on a range of cars including rovers from a few years ago, but only have one Mini brochure, which I picked up by chance in a dealership in Kent when I was still too young to learn to drive even. It covers the Mini, Mini cooper, and Mini cooper Sport. It may be the brochure for 1996-1999 or something because I know it doesn't include the spec of the 2000 models like the Cooper Sport I had; the ones with the silver roof, silver/black leather etc.

Thanks again for the link :-) and your comments about the car!! It was a good find, and its only done about 11k!! I am hoping to get into go to one or two of the shows this year, so perhaps you'll see it there - it depends when they fall with relation to Uni exams and summer work!?

Cheers, Matthew

Nice one and it's barely run in too!

I forgot about the Corgi Mini 40 models, I have a few safely kept with the rest of my collection and I hope to get them on display soon when we buy another glass display cabinet.

Does it have an orange cover with the front of a Tahiti Blue Mini Cooper and the words "It's The Image Of You"?

Wow, it sounds like you have a very nice collection! :)

Yes, thats the right one - Tahiti blue Mini on the front of an orange cover!

I assume those are slightly more common - it isn't for a Limited Edition or anything, so they were probably available for longer!?

Yes it's a pretty common later brochure to be honest that was available from 1996-2000, but the Mini 40 brochure was a lot rarer and I remember hearing how someone went into a Rover dealership local to me and was allowed to take all their supply for their Mini Club.

I never found out who it was or which club they were a member of, but it's annoying now the brochure is hardly ever seen and is so sought after on E-Bay.

Here's some of my Mini model collection on display anyway:-

Thought so, still, its probably worth hanging on to for a few years - as a reference for technical/spec stuff if nothing else. It brings back memories I suppose too! I was so interested in the brochure when I got it that I managed to walk into a lamp-post while reading it! :) Was worth it though!

Wow, he must be laughing now!! That is annoying!! If you manage to track down more than one then please let me know - I'll let you know if I somehow manage to find two or more!

Your collection in the pictures looks really good - It must have taken years to put that together, and probably a fair amount of money too!! It is very impressive though, and I am sure a good investment!! :)

Yes okay and if by some miracle I manage to get a few Mini 40 brochures, i'll let you know too.

And I've been collecting Mini models on and off since the 1970's and the Dinky Mini Clubman is a perfect replacement for the one I bought from a toy shop in Cardiff when I was about 8 years of age. Well I gave that one away over 30 years ago, so I was pleased to get the replacement off E-Bay.

The only one i've payed over the odds for was the Beatles (George Harrison) Psychedelic Mini, simply because you can't get it new since Apple threatened Corgi with legal action over their trademark image.

I have had a few bargains off E-Bay and most others were bought new so they weren't expensive and they're an investment for my kids I guess because i'm not parting with them any time soon.

;)

Got my brochure a few days back without any problems and it's mint!

The Happy Birthday musical tune is slightly annoying though, thankfully it does stop after a while! :P

Hi Taffy,

Sorry that I didn't reply sooner... term got pretty hectic here at Uni. I can't remember where I was last time with owning the mini/memorabilia, but I now have the car, and also two copies of the brochure, although the tab for the tune is not intact on either which is a bit disappointing. Congratulations with your mint one!! :) I'm going to see what I can do to repair that in the summer when I am home. I also got given a Promotional CD for the car from the previous owner, although unfortunately for me, they have decided to keep the anniversary box and log book which originally would have come with the car (which is why I didn't have them passed onto me by the dealer that I bought it from). I am hoping to source one of these though, and perhaps if I source a log book, try to trade it with them or something, so that they still have one, but I have the one to go with my car - Its got to be worth a try!

How are you and your mini(s).

Happy 40th for June! I'm not sure that I'll make the show in Beaulieu, but hope to make atleast one show this year as I've never been to one. Are there any, do you know, which are more local to me (I'm in Gloucester)?? Cheers for the links you posted and things.

Hi Matt, well I say mint as in the condition of the brochure, but the tune doesn't always want to switch off once activated anyway. But my misses has a knack to deactivating it by simply bending it (I think?). Otherwise it'll happily go on playing happy birthday until the battery exhausts. :D

Bit mean of the previous owners to not pass on the anniversary box and log book though. :X

But what promotional CD have you got? Is it the one with a red Mini Cooper on the front that was given with the anniversary brochure that was available in the shops in 1999?

As for Mini shows, well I know Bristol Mini Day is coming up soon, but it's not a very big show.

Matt really try and press the original owners for the presentation pack, try and impress on them the importance of this staying with the car,I can tell you that if you let it go you will really struggle to get another I have presently 5 owners registered who do NOT have the pack with their cars....................If you do find one you will pay silly money for it,I think the last one I saw went for over £100
