Why go back to Monte. With 120 members going on the last trip.  Would it not be better to plan to go somewhere else.

Hi all, I'm a relatively new member to the MCR and I'm coming back to live in the UK next year - has anybody thought of going to Le Mans?

I understand from the mag there was some money issues after minis to monte, but I think Le Mans is a pretty self organised deal (i.e. buy tickets, book camp sites all at fixed prices(doesn't mean the club couldn't get a better deal though)).

Just a thought!

Are you suiggesting the normal Le Mans in June or the Classic Le Mans in July. I will be at the latter as it is much more fun. Not quite up to the technology of the latest GP stuff, however.

:) Sorry for the delay in replying - I'd be interested in going to both, as I haven't been to either event before.  I have read that the historic event is a very good weekend, with a good variety of cars and races to see (and I would like to see a GT40 giving it some!).  But equally I would like to the current race - the DBR9 does look good, and it will be interesting to see how Audi gets on this year.

So perhaps there is scope for going to one event this year, the other next?  Am I right in thinking that the historic race is only every other year?  In which case it would be a shame to miss it this year.  Also given that there's the possibility of a few Mini Coopers going it might be more appropriate.  Did you say you're definatley going?  I'd be interested in knowing how you arranged the tickets/campsites etc.  I'm changing jobs in Feb and going back to the SE of England so would definately be interested, job permitting!

Have you heard of anyone else interested?

Yes, the Le Mans Classic is every other year. I think there is some sort of event in Japan on the years off (?) If you go, make sure you get a paddock pass - you can then leave copious amounts of saliva on the ground near to the odd 250Gt or whatever is your Fancy. I have a friend who is involved in racing a Stutz there - now that is a beast......

:D At last, back in the UK and with easy internet access!

So paddock passes are recommended, eh?  If you're going with a team it'll be different for you, but if you've been before who did you organise you tickets with, and was it easily done?  And what are the dates of the historic event? (I've still to find out what I'll be doing at work of course, but we'll try not to let that get in the way!)

Will you be taking your mini to the event?

All very easy - visit http://www.lemansclassic.com

You can book there (as I did in 2004)

This year, as the 's' is off the road, I will be going down in my Frogeye (plus a few others) just pray for sunshine !! Let me know if you need more info.
