Looking for an ORX...F registration number (or registered car) to complete a very good works replica Mk2 'S' belonging to a friend.
Thanks

Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MINI-COOPER-S-WORKS-REPLICA-REG-NO-BMC-RALLY-RACE_W0QQitemZ120099288501QQcategoryZ43123QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
It's been on several times recently and never met reserve.

| He seems to think it is worth £5k (I think that was the starting price last time) which I think is a way OTT. Lets face it there are only one or two people who would be interested in it for their carsas most build Mk 1 replicas.

Yup I agree there, not too many Mk2 works replica owners about with £5K burning a hole in their pocket.
What I want to know is would a transfer from NI be as straight forward as on the mainland ? See the odd thing is that on the DVLA website the ORX 70F registration actually shows up as exported ! Which means the Ford Corsair it's screwed to has got to be re-imported and the number applied for through the V765 scheme. Very odd. The owner is adamant that it's a straightforward transfer.

Yes, I agree - far too much. I thought his start price was £1000 this time but perhaps he has a reserve beyond that. I tend to think that ebay is a good way of establishing the true value of anything. If it's listed correctly it will normally find its value which is, after all, only what someone will pay for it.
I realised too late that I had 'given away' the registration JMO 569D on an old Morris Minor I sold for a few hundred a few years ago!
Wonderful thing hindsight!

| I had GRX 18*D on an Austin A40 v- now on a Mini! I also had ABL56C on a Cooper S.

| Thinking about it, I do have MJB 756E which is still on a Morris Minor 1000. If anybody wanted that I'm sure we could come to an arrangement. I have just MOT'd and taxed it recently. It is a Berkshire reg. and although not a series that was used on any works cars as far as I know, it might suit somebody.

| The whole idea of transferring plates from one car to another is something that is not possible in the Netherlands - Here, a registration number is tightly coupled to the chassis number. So, I have a question related to this if I may ask it in this thread. I have a Morris Minor which originally had OKD 829F (too far off I guess) but the car is now registered in the Netherlands. Would it still be possible to transfer the number? Last edited on Saturday May 26th, 2007 09:43 am by Mini4Ever |

In a word, no. The car would have to have current UK tax and MOT and be available for an inspection in the UK to check chassis number etc.
Added to that, I can't imagine the number having much commercial value if any I'm afraid.

It's a good number for a Police car replica

Guess that makes sense. It seemed already rather fraude sensitive to me if it would be possible...
