well heres a christmas pressent i really didnt want.
Tony Ambrose, my grandad, is in hospital at the moment with reinal failure. Those of advancing years may remember him from being the co driver to Rauno Alltonen, both being the champions of 2 world rally's as well as being the pioneers, with Paddy Hopkirk in the Mini coopers. I am ever hopeful that he will pull through, but i have got to say i am worried.
I guess i'm lighting a candle of hope that others recognise that my grandad, a historic member of the motorsport fraternity, pulls through. After the recent death of Tony Falls, I am sinceerly hopful that British motorsport does not loose one of it's rally pioneers especially after the year we have had with motorsport losses.
He is a genuine inspiration to me and the singular reason i am interested in cars . I genuinlly aspire to be even a 10th the skilled motorsports personallity he is.
Come on Grandad, you can win this one- you have before!
I appologise for the N00b post, but i am trying to reach out to those who may recognise my Grandad in the hope to drum up as much hope as possible.
Thanks for reading.

Tony Ambrose is still a much remembered name from the great days of Minis in Motorsport. I'm sure he must have been a great inspiration for you and hope that he continues to be!
Let us indeed hope that he makes a good recovery.

| My thoughts are with you. People like your Grandad in the BMC team were my heros in the 1960's. I hope he pulls through.

This is quite difficult.
Tony(my grandpa) died yesurday morning, suddenly after being released from hospital. It seems he battled hard and had almost recovered but something jsut got the better of him.
I have to say though; thank you all for your support.
Cheers.

I just read your reply again- bloodyhell!
I was about 4 when they sold that place... I remember vividly as that year i lost some lego while playing in the beer garden. So silly the things you remember.
My grandma bought a house in crickhowell jsut after it was sold. I remember year after year of christmas's there. Incredible.

Really sorry to hear your sad news, a miserable start to the New Year for you and your family.
Hope you can take comfort from the fact that inspirational figures like your Grandad can 'live on' so to speak, in our thoughts and minds, so I hope that he will continue to inspire you as he has in the past.
I'm sure that all in the MCR will want to pass on their good wishes.

Dear ? (I don't know your name),
I am sorry to hear your tragic news and I would like to pass on my sincere condolences at this time. Your grandpa must have been quite an inspiration to you and there is no need for that to be any less now that he is gone.
Kind regards
Al

So very sorry to hear the news that Tony lost his fight, my thoughts are with you and your family.
Your Grandma, Barbara, moved to a village called Cwmdu and she very kindly looked after me once when I had a road accident in the same village, I hope she is well and send my regards.
Hope we meet up one day.
