Hi!
Follow this link>> http://www.classic-auctions.com/auctionlistings.php?saleid=93C
I hope it has got nothing to do with all this subprime market collapse. They all seem to be geting sold, I hope they stay in this country.

| Interesting - the estimates are the same as some of the replicas have sold for recently.

| Does anyone know about either of these cars? I'm seriously tempted.

| I think that OBL45F had a long and distinguished privateer rallying career in the hands of Rob Lawrence. Painted white with a black roof. I recall an article about the car in a mini magazine a few years ago. His son had fully restored it but kept it in white and black, in tribute to his now deceased dad and to "annoy the purists". The car is now in original tour de france spec and colours.

Rob Lawrence (a milkman?) had JMO 969D and used it extensively in the late 1960's.
Bob Freeborough (definitely a milkman/dairy owner) had EBD 90C which was white/black and converted to Mk 2 spec.

CRX did not sell, I believe there was one bid of £30k which did not meet the reserve. Maybe something to do with the fact its MOT and registration have 'been withdrawn' by the DVLA - according to a disclaimer on the windscreen.
I hadn't seen OBL 45F in the metal before - £40k was a good price for what was there on display.

Up and down like The North Sea but as Robert has often said the market place will allways determine the price, but I suppose it also can with these types of cars depend a lot on the detail and finish, also who and why they are buying.
P.S Nothing to do with the earthquake.

One of the great things about a free market is that it’s neither right nor wrong

| Among factory teams there used to be, and probably still is a lot of jigggery-pokery as regards registration of cars. I know for a fact that Dealer Opel Team used to run separate tarmac spec and forest spec Mnatas on one log book and numberplate!

What's the MANTA with that
I believe Triumph (and a lot of manufacturers) did the same with their bikes.

| Just sold my Triumph Bonneville! According to a book I have on the T120 model, whe journalists came to test the bikes, they would be taken out on the road in the morning, and then given lunch prior to stopwatch performance testing in the afternoon. While the scribes were filling their faces, the bikes were taken away and had high compression heads and fancy cams fitted!

| A great disappointment for the owner of CRX 90B I imagine. It does appear from what I've read, to be as genuine as any ex-works car can be expected to be. I did see in one of the photos in this months mag. what looked like a commision no. plate which would not be correct for a car of that age. Maybe this hasn't helped the confusion? Hopefully all will be sorted in due course and a new home will be found for such an interesting car.
