The 10th annual Malin to Mizen Run organised by the Irish Mini Owners Club (IMOC) will take place over the UK bank holiday May 23-25 2008. By running the 2008 event over the UK May holiday weekend, we hope to entice plenty of Mini enthusiasts from Britain and Northern Ireland.
In a nutshell, the Malin to Mizen Run is the Irish equivalent of LE JOG travelling from Malin Head (the most northerly point) to Mizen Head (southerly) in a single day, a distance of approx 450 miles. This has always been a non-competitive event but has taken in many old Circuit of Ireland stages en route.
Malin to Mizen 2008 will be open to classic Minis only. In the 2007 event in May this year, we had an entry of 60 classic Minis, all bar one completing the run successfully.
Entry to the Malin to Mizen Run is £45 for non-IMOC members which includes a Friday night drivers briefing, routebooks with tulip diagrams, breakdown service, a session on the Saturday night, and a prizegiving breakfast on the Sunday morning.
For full details and entry forms, please visit the events section of the Irish Mini Owners Club website http://www.irishminis.ie and a search through the club forum will find loads of trip reports and photos from the 2007 event.
While this event has always been known in Ireland as the MTM (Malin to Mizen), I should make absolutely clear that this should not be confused with the MCR's MTM events.
Any questions, please just ask.
Thanks for looking,
Billy Mulqueen, Irish Mini Owners Club and MCR member.

Hi Billy
Why does the Irish Minis Club web site have a headline "Driving Minis since 1989?" if the event publicised as "open to classic minis" - I thought Minis came out in 1959.
Have i missed something ?

First of all, thanks for taking the time to visit the Irish Mini Owners Club site http://www.irishminis.ie The year 1989 was when the club was set up, probably as a result of publicity for the Mini 30th Anniversary. The inaugural IMOC MTM (which was Mizen to Malin back then) was dreamt up by yours truly back in 1999 as the club's celebration of Mini 40 and it's been run every year since.
The club is no stranger to running big events. Back in '97, we ran the IMM here in Co. Cork with 650 Minis. Getting 60 Minis from one end of Ireland to the other is a doddle in comparison.
Do a search in the site forum http://www.irishminis.ie/forum/ to find reports and photos on this year's event, MTM2007.
Hope you can make it.
Billy

We now have 2 entries from South Wales entered for Malin to Mizen on May 23-25 so if anyone else from south Wales or the south of England is interested in making a convoy, I can put you all in touch.

As of today, entry has now reached 20 classic Minis for the 10th MTM (Malin to Mizen). While it's over 2 months to the entry closing date in April, accommodation will get scarce as more entrants sign up. To date, most of this year's entrants took part in last year's event which is a good sign.

Today the official closing date for entries, we have received 45 entries with crews from 5 countries: Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Wales, and Sweden. We have entries from 18 counties around all of Ireland.
It's going to be a fun event. If anyone else from the MCR is interested in taking part, I am prepared to accept entries over the coming week but let me know by PM beforehand that you intend participating.
For more details and who's taking part, visit the Irish Mini Owners Club site http://www.irishminis.ie/forum under Events.
