Anyone know if there's an MCR presence at British Mini Fair at Stafford Bingley Hall on Jan 29th ? It's a decent venue, tons of trade stands, very well attended and a good kick start to the year.( and much in need of some nice old Mini Coopers !!)
Oh and it's Oop North ! ...Well not if you're from Glasgow obviously........

Evidently there's no MCR representation at this event ,despite the best efforts of the organiser to attract one, very poor I think. Fair enough that the club can't attend every show, but this one has a very large attendance and has been very successful over the years, and evidently the MCR can't be bothered.
Bet you there's a few members selling parts though , or involved in other club stands !

Glen,
It is not a case of the MCR “can’t be bothered” as you put it. The truth is that it is the same people again organising an MCR presence at some selected shows. There are over 1500 members in this club, yet only 11 volunteers on the committee. We cannot give up every weekend to go to every show. We have commitments outside the MCR as well. Maybe you or anyone else reading this post would like to volunteer for one of the vacant positions on the committee at the next AGM. Then maybe we could have an MCR presence at more shows.
If you read the December magazines report on the regions, you would have seen a list of 4 major shows where the committee decided to have an MCR presence.
There was also a request for regions to let us know what local shows (whether major or minor) they would be attending so we could provide the marquee etc. That was 5 weeks ago and still no response.
In October I contacted every regional organiser listed in the magazine requesting information on their regional meeting point and local events and shows they attend with a view to displaying this information at shows and on the website. It was hoped that this would attract new members to the club and existing ones to the regional meetings. I made a personal phone call to each organiser and sent a follow up letter. I also made a further request in the December magazine. As yet only 3 regions out of the 20 have made the effort to send this information. “Very poor I think”.
For members to complain that the club is not attending this or that show is hypocritical, especially when we have clearly asked which shows they would like to attend or are attending.
If you feel so strongly that the MCR should have a presence at Bingley Hall, then perhaps you would like to organise an MCR stand there yourself? Maybe you could arrange a display with other local MCR members who you know are attending.
The marquee, flags, banners and display material belong to the club as a whole so you are welcome to use them. The committee would be only too happy to send them to you.
You could also write a report for the club magazine telling those members who didn’t attend all about it. I am sure they would be very interested.

| Those of you who attended, please let us know what it was like for those who couldn't make it.
