I have a 3 bare solid wall 1275 A-type short engine blocks in my garage and I would like to figure out whether these were Innocenti, 1275GT or maybe even some 1300 from another car. There are no engine number tags on the blocks but they all have casting number 12G1279 and all have 4 bolts to fit the oil pump. Two of them have 11 cylinder head stud holes and one has only 9 stud holes. Any ideas on what these blocks could be from?

In other words: How do I distinguish an Innocenti Cooper block from a 1275GT block or a block for some other 1300 by BMC/Leyland without having engine numbers or much else to go on?

I would imagine the Innocenti 11 stud blocks to be identical to the UK 1300GTs with the 11 stud head - my understanding is that the Inno engines were built in the UK to Innocenti specs - including the 1.75 SU on the alloy manifold. Makes you wonder why they didn't make that spec for UK Minis as well?

As far as I know the Innocenti block was the same as the 1300GT block which had a solid center main , unlike the 1275GT block which had a hole above the center main bearing?
