I was replacing my waterpump, alternator and the belt. All was going well until I came to adjust the tension. I managed to shear the bolt that holds the adjuster pulley - i've attached a picture of the adjuster assembly.
Any ideas where I can get a replacement??? It's kinda urgent, Emily is my daily driver and I'm back at college on Monday (well I would be if i hadn't sheared that bolt!!)
Is this a part that is common with MG's?
Please help..... Sooooo sad, gonna cry....
Thanx

Looks as though you'll need the tensioner adajuster spindle nut, PQU100230, and the associated M8 nut. Listed as available by Minispares but not cheap at £17.05!

Rover only list the part for the mini.

Poxy job, replaced my belt today.
Why the hell did they put a square on the adjuster! if they'd put a hex on it you could have used a socket and save all that messing about with a stubby 10mm spanner. I'm going to weld a nut on there when i next do it.
Theres not really a way around what youve done other than replace the pulley spindle.
Might be worth asking at you local rover dealer for the part, i doubt there will be much difference in price but you save the postage over minispares. (nb. most former Rover dealers now deal in another brand, but generally they still offer Rover parts and service, so ask)

| hb, the parts book shows it as an M8 nut. Is it a crazy Rover special or could it be replaced by a standard nut?

Thanks for that Dave, expensive for one nut.
As you say hb, why put a sqaure on the end of the adjuster?? Crazy stuff.
I've attached a photo of the sheared spindle bolt and of the adjuster with the square.

| Thinking about it if you know someone with a lathe and a pillar drill in their shed, they could easilly make one of these in about 1/2hour.

| Yeah, the thought had crossed my mind, but I don't know anyone with a lathe - I could go to college and plead with my tutor Jim (he's into Minis) so that would be one possibility. The only problem is I'm just outside Edinburgh and college is in Glasgow.... depends how desperate I get, might have to use the bus or train.

Well i had heard Scotland was a bit primitive, perhaps it would be easier to pop south of the border and borrow someones telephone, or maybe send a telegram?

LMFAO
Telephone??!! I've heard of them....pure witch-craft!!
I dispatched the doo's, with a message and x-part will have it in stock tomorrow.
Done a very temp repair, so at least i'm mobile again.
Here's a note of the part number PQU100230, cost £17.82.
Thanks for all the help.
