Snoopy, I took the radio out to check for dampness because the radio/speakers packed in.  I couldn't feel any moisture (i.e. from a leaking screen seal) but it was very cold so it could be an area that attracts moisture.  To be honest I'm not too bothered - I have a watch and one of those damned mobile phone things which has a clock, and I think its more important that I fix the wheel bearing and swivel joints for the MOT in Jan first!

But let me know if you do find a solution - I'll get around to it eventually!
