Hello all,
My 93MY Cooper SPI has developed engine and gearbox troubles, after one to many mini adventures (LOL) .
So I am now looking for a replacement engine and box.
My question is do I have to use a SPI engine or can I fit a carburettor engine and use the existing injection system?
Any comments will be greatfully received.
Many thanks
D

Well i'm no expert in these matters, but I doubt a Mini engine that was originally fitted with a carb is going to be too happy to run using the fuel injection system from a later car?
I mean Rover did all kinks of mods to adapt the A'series to run fuel injected and I'm sure it's not impossible, but it probably would be easier and cheaper to just fit the engine and run it with a carb.
I guess this is a question you'd need to ask a good Mini Specialist or one of the Mini Magz?

| Suggest checking through info available at http://www.calverst.com and http://www.minispares.com . Biggest problem is probably flywheel - not directly interchangable and injection reluctor ring definitely required for SPi. Think both sites have details of how to get round this.

| Why bother with the injection system at all, when a carb engine is much more amenable to tuning? Just my two penneth worth. Richard.
