i recently bought the car and the owner admitted to it having a running problem, which i was willing to sort out . has anyone heard of it before ? It drives but if i try to accelerate hard ,it cuts out and i have to stop ,turn off and restart. Iv`e replaced the fuel pump with a good used one and whilst checking the fuel lines i found a kinked flexy just after the "S" shape after the filter. I sorted that out and it seemed to run better but once i tried to accelerate it still cut out. So at the minute i have to drive it like an old lady. Can anyone please point me in the right direction.

Well maybe the injection system needs a good clean out? Failing that it could be a faulty ECU or perhaps it needs tuning?
Also check all the breathers (crankcase) aren't blocked too.

A friend had a similar problem which was tracked down to the Engine Management Relay; a new one solved problem.

| ive still not sorted my problem and have been researching the prospect of converting my spi to carburetor. I found an American site Minimania.com , and they sell a conversion kit , comprising of a HIF 44 1 3/4 su carb , a Holley fuel regulator and a Bosch relay which replaces the ECU. The conversion they describe seems straight forward. Has anyone any info on the subject please.

| I had a similar problem with my car where it would just cut out whilst driving along. It turned out to be the fuel cut off switch cutting in when I went over even slight bumps in the road. I simply by passed the cut off switch, which solved the problem, before buying a new replacement. Bit of a long shot, but might be worth a try. | Not sure how you'd get on with the emissions test if you was to convert to a carburettor set up?
