Looks fantastic, but what are you going to do about the indicator holes on the front wings?

| does my car legally have to have side repeaters? because if not i was going to put a union jack at each side.

| I'm not too sure about the legalities, but I'm pretty sure I've seen a few late Mini Coopers with union jack badges in place of the indicators.

Just looked it up on The Mini Forum and: -
All vehicles first used after the 1st of April 1986 require side repeater indicators.
So I guess it's down to how strict the MOT tester is?

Red ones will fail the MOT too if they dont show a true amber light.
TBH clear ones with amber bulbs wont look too obvious, as you say you've not built a replica, just a homage to the 60's cars so it wont really matter if it has side repeaters. They do help reduce the risk of some idiot pranging into you though.
Side repeaters will be much like the modern number plates, they dont detract from the cars look either. I mean there are always going to be those that nit pick about it, "there are one too many spot welds holding that wing on" that sort of thing.
Great job though.

I fitted clear lenses on mine when I did the same as you - 10"'s, group 2's etc. They look OK. I went for amber front indicators and Mk2 rear lamps (I fit a fog light just for the MOT). The car is looking good with you. Richard.

Hi Ben,
I bought my spots (not Rover), lamp bar and covers off Ebay as a job-lot, so do not know their origins. I think the covers are probably Newton items, but they look OK. Some more photos of my car are on http://www.mainstreamcooper.co.uk. Go to 'Forum'>'The Register'>'Full Car Profiles'>'White Diamond Cars'>'J###BAU'.
Since listing have started 12-car rallies and have added a sump guard and boot-mounted reversing light, as well as getting around to having the right-hand tank fitted. More rally-related mods are in the pipeline.

Sort of off topic, but as you mention spot lamp covers.
In some countries in europe you're legally required to cover aux lamps that you're not using. Hence those covers being designed and why most aftermarket lamps come with plastic covers.
Does anyone know if you need to do this when driving in France?
