The registration refers, I believe, to a SPI Cooper built in 1997.

Again, I believe, rallied by Terry Colley & prior to that the Plant Bros. Rallied, if it was the same car, in the 2000 RAC.

Was sponsored by Mini Magazine although the picture on Mini Magazine doesn't look like or perhaps isn't the car that now has the registration...........if you see what I mean !!

Anyway.............to the point of this epistle.........Does anyone know of the car, know anything at all about it, history and etc

Thanks

It might be worth asking under Ex-Works cars, because you might get a better response there?

The closest I could find was the car they used on the 1996 Monte: -

Try Brian Purves. He wrote the book "The last works minis" I believe he also knows a lot about the rover mini rally cars and may be able to shed some light. Or as suggested above try Robert Young, Ex works registrar for the club magazine.

I think there were 2 cars. The cover picture is A13 GPN which I think is Neil Burgess' car which he used on the Rally GB in the last year of the Mini Cooper's homologation.
I am not sure about R13 GPN but I think GPN is a Sussex plate as my 1997 car with an R plate had GPN and was supplied by John Cooper Garage.
As the R plate was not available until 1997 I doubt if it took part in rallies earlier than that.
I have Bryan's book and will investigate.

There is also Neil Burgess, Welsh rally GB 2004 mini driver who has A13 GPA. He may know some more about A13 GPN.

Ebay ad states 'owned, built, and rallied by Terry Colley' Definitely no 'Works' links. See:  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1997-MINI-MAGAZINE-RALLY-MINI-COOPER-GROUP-N_W0QQitemZ250213834724QQihZ015QQcategoryZ43123QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Neil's report for A's of Herts links the car to the Plant brothers but I can't find any others. They definitely ran A13 GPN, is this a case of the registration having the required effect?

I was under the impression the Plant's Gislaved sponsored RAC Rally A13 GPN was built from a scrapper, in fact someone told me once the Rover Cooper the Mrs was driving around at the time had the same chassis number !!!  Looks like the number did move around from the desription in the Ebay add.

Another pic of what, I assume, is the same car. Does anyone know of or have any contacts for Terry Colley? Anyone know anything of or about the Plant Bros.

Drop me a PM please if you don't want it on an open forum.

That's correct. I've been to see it and it's not for me I'm afraid.:(

I have the Duke Video "Mini DVD".

There is a scene in it showing this car being driven, with Paddy Hopkirk being given a ride in the passenger seat.
