Him indoors has changed the cam on his 1995 and since the engine went back in, it will not start. There is power going  to the coil, but there is no spark from the coil. Do you have any ideas as to what may be the cause of this please ?

Perhaps the fuel cut-off switch needs resetting? It's located on the right of the engine bulkhead.

Hi! :)

You say you have got no spark but you have got power to the coil.:? How much power will it light a bulb?

If you turn the ignition off you should get a spark that is how the coil works. Is the problem not the coil?

Just noticed it is a new mini be carefull if try a bulb!

Hi

Have you checked the cam sensor and lead, this seems to be an issue with most cars fitted with electronic engine management systems (just like the flywheel sensor) MPI owner??:D

hope it helps

Well it could be one of those little things which are the cause of the problem? Have you tried a different Coil and are all the sensors in good order?

They have got the mappable ECU on there now, completely bypassing the old system. It now goes but they have further work to get things so the car is drivable. They are getting there though, which is great :D

Just wondering if you ever got this sorted. I had a similar issue with my Rover Cooper Si turns out it was the temperature sensor was reading 59 degrees from cold, meaning it basically was performing a hot start so no choke as such.a new sensor was fitted along with a lambda sensor which was also fubar.
