hello all
Has anyone had experience removing a webasto roof, I'm re-spraying the roof and i would like to remove the sunroof to do a better job rather than mask it all up. any hints and tips would be most grateful.

If it's the electric opening type (as fitted to the 1992 Mini British Open Classic LE), then this dedicated website has a Haynes Manual type of exploded view of the sunroof: -

| I believe there is just an inner frame under the headlining the screws into the main frame and sandwiches the original roof panel. it should lift out as a complete unit.

The sunroof sits as a cassette on top of the roof and uses captive bolts through the roof and spreader rails on the inside. The main requirement is time and patience - if you think you may be tight for time don't think about it, you will be. On the other hand, if there's no rush, it'll be so easy you wonder why I commented.
A precis of the Rover procedure is as follows:
Open roof, disconnect battery, remove rear window, open rear quarter lights and release seal from top rear corner of window aperture, remove motor access cap and release headlining from rear window and behind d post trim, release headlining support rod, release motor power lead from clips and disconnect from motor, remove nuts securing rear clamping strip and remove strip, remove finisher from sunroof aperture and release headlining from flange, remove nuts from front and side clamping strips and earth point, remove clamping strips, REMOVE ROOF.
Rover recommend changing the roof/sunroof rubber seal - it may be worth making enquires before starting removal. I'm not sure how much room you'll have but it may be worth trying to access the rear nuts from inside the car when the finisher and headlining are released, that way you may not need to disturb the rear window.
If you're spraying the roof you'll also need to remove the wind deflector. On later rooves this is bolted from underneath, on earlier models, including my '94 Si, they have visible screws from above plus 2 rivets, one each end, under blanking plugs.
