I know this seems very ignorant of me, but i did'nt realise that all this was going to possibly alter the "tone" of the exhaust.
I have to say i have always wondered why some mini's sound how shall i put it "meatier" than others, now i understand why.
Can you tell i'm a complete novice at this sort of thing?..lol
Not at all and I generally learn something new every day, even though I've been a Mini enthusiast for decades.
The one thing I have learned though is it's worth paying that little bit extra for quality, like with exhaust systems. Because in the long run cheaper alternatives are usually false economy.
Morning Gents,
Interesting news over the weekend on this subject.
I had the main car (Rover 75) serviced over the weekend and while i was with the technician, asked about the cat on a '92 Mini. (they are also an MOT station)
He had a look throught the VOSA reg's book and it says that "vehicles registered from 1st August 1986 do not need a cat"
(the next date in the list and which they are needed was 1st August 92)
I then visited my mini mechanic and asked him the same question, he uses the MOT station next door for the mini's.
He said that catagorically, anything pre Aug 92 does not require a cat...he said he would go as far as to say it applied right up to the issue of the L plate on some cars, but deffo for anything pre August 92
