it has the cooper wheels which has the rare feature of the studs being aligned with the spokes

I thought that was more of an oddity than a feature and not particularly rare since the Mini 30, Flame Red, Racing Green & Check Mate LE's all got the same type too?

Literally thousands of Mini's had that style of wheel so you couldn't call it odd or a rarity really.

Obviously it is something the vendor has picked up on. You should never let reality get in the way of good sales prose.

Well yes and no really.

Rover obviously changed suppliers of their 'Minilite' style wheels around 1991.

Earlier ones had the stud holes inline with the spokes, later ones they were between.

Having the wheel nuts inline with the spokes isnt really a concrete confirmation it's an RSP, but can be used in conjunction with other features.

The vast majority of these wheels produced where of the later variety. Many RSP wheels as with any car of their age get their wheels scuffed, often it's easier to just replace them with later wheels rather than refurb the old ones.

So studs inline with the spokes, is an added touch of originality on an RSP (or a 30, Flame/Check/racing) Incidentally they were only 'standard' on the 30 and RSP, the flame/check/racing they were optional extras.

Some later cars did get them, i've even heard of cars with mixed sets, my guess is Rover were just using up their old stock.

Depends what you call rare really, but the earlier wheels are harder to find than the later type if you needed to replace them.

They were optional extras on the 1989 first versions of the Mini Flame Red & Racing Green LE's, but they were fitted as standard on the early 1990 second wave of Flame Red, Racing Green, plus the Check Mate that was added for that year.

In fact those 3 Mini models also got the classic 3.44 final drive to go with the then current John Cooper Conversion Kits that were marketed in line with these models.

Just came across the original sale brochures for these models: -
