Happy new year to you all. one of the hydrolastic displacers on my cooper S mk3 is faillured. the rest of the displacers are not to bad. but 4 NOS 21A2012 or 2014 displacers are always welcome [when you can find them] i have 4 NOS 21A2008 displacers. my question is. can i use them on the mk3 S ? who have experience with this ? regards Dirk.

I guess it is a front one that has failed?

You can use a standard displacers but it will make the suspension softer on that corner so it would be as well to replace the one on the other side of the car. If it is a front one a pair of shock absorbers on the front will stiffen it back up

The early S's (pre December 1965) used standard rated displacers similar to the 21A2008 from the factory. See also this topic ;)

And early S's pitched like a cork on a rough sea which was why they went to stiffer units. Mismatched units adversely affect the handling.
