Hi Simon; On the subject of Cylinder bore re-lining; I have stripped down the engine of MYJ887J to find the bore to be at 60 thou and looking a bit grim so this could be the best option for me also... is it generally a successful fix?

| So long as the sleeves are put in properly there is no reason why it shouldn't be a good fix - BMC used sleeved blocks themselves.

| I had a 1275S block sleeved and rebored by Oselli engineering back in 1988(ish). With MG Metro pistons it never used a drop of oil between 6000 mile oil changes, not even a puff of smoke.

I had a Mk111 Cooper S engine rebuilt by Osselli some years back, taking a 1293 unit sleeved back to standard with further engine rebuild, crank, mains, cam etc. All fully balanced up the engine 'sang' for the remainder of the time I owned it. There reputation then (1983ish) was top drawer and from what I hear they have only got better and more technolgicly advanced since. Fantastic customer liasion & care and the engineering is simply superb. I wpould recommend Osselli engineering 100% & would consider them my first port of call for any rebuild of this nature.
