Hello
I'm french and I try to find the real color of my 1968 Morris Cooper S MKII.
I think it's Vermillion red (perhaps repainted) but I don't find this color in all technical document.
For the 1968 year, I have found Tartan Red.
Chassis number : K-A2S6L-1151351A
Engine : 9F-SAY-50050
FF 1279635
Can you tell me, if it's possible to have an original color like vermillion Red.
Thanks a lot for this site.

Hello and welcome to the Forum
Vermillion Red is a late 1970's BL colour.
Tartan Red was the only red available in 1968.
Your car certainly looks more Vermillion than Tartan.

Photographs and computer monitors can make colours look very different but your car should be Tartan Red/Black as stated above.
Mark 3 Minis could also be Flame Red and Blaze and on my computer your looks like it could be Blaze.

Thanks but photograph and computer are not change the colour, for my eyes it's Vermillion too.
I don't knonw if it's possible with the chassis number to find the original colour when new or and what options it possibly had.
I have post the same question in the miniforum and they tell me to ask the mini cooper register (you have a lot of knowledge).

Try looking for the original colour in all the hard to reach places that may not have been painted during the colour change, i.e. under the dash, under the roof lining, under the upper dash rail trim (if its not been changed), failing that your best bet is a heritage certificate

| A Heritage Certificate should be available for your car and should tell you the original colour but it will not tell you if any options were fitted at the factory.

| Obviously the Clubman rear bumper and front corner bars are not original - nice to see it has reclining front seats installed.

If I have understood...
On 1968 MKII, I should have bumpers (front and rear) only with over-rider.
But never with corner bar ?

Correct, front & back bumpers with overriders but no corner bars. Gray
