| Very tidy isn't it. Not a big fan of El Paso Beige myself. The Mk2 S I owned was beige originally but had been resprayed black, like many were, before I bought it in the late 1970s. The gold wheels do suit some cars don't they. I like the mirrors too, which seem to fit onto the sliding window catches - are these the 'Downton' type offerings? I'll feel lost without mirrors on my car when it returns to the road but don't really want to drill the new wings to fit the mirrors back on......

I haven't got any external mirrors on any of my Mini's and it does seem a little odd without them but you soon get used to it. Just have to remember to look over your shoulder when overtaking etc.
Wing mirrors look 'correct' but are pretty useless and door mirrors just don't look right on a 60's Mini. In my opinion of course

Yes, they are Downton mirrors. I agree wholeheartedly with andrew, bar a stadium mirror and the downton offerings mirrors look wrong in my opinion.
Nice little pic detailing the conversion here. http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~ZQ5M-SKT/sidewindowlever.JPG
As for the cooper, it will be interesting what a cracking car makes in relation to its Mk1 brethren.

Ah but eventually you get to an age where you can't turn your neck like you used to be able to ..... I've always found wing mirrors very good but just don't want to drill holes to refit them! I agree that the later type door mirrors, while neat enough and very effective, don't look quite 'right' on 60s Minis.

Thanks for that earlycar - an interesting picture. Whats the piece of plastic I wonder, a small cupholder ? The window catch itself seems to be missing on this car!

Looks like the mirror is attached to a car that is finished in the best 60's colour
Richard, how about cutting the bits off the mirrors that would pass through the wings and gluing them on with No More Nails

| Update: Seems to have sold for £6,350. Quite strong money for a Mk2 998 Cooper. It does seem that Cooper values are rising a bit which is good if you're trying to sell one and not so good if you wish to buy one I suppose. It is encouraging to all those of us spending money restoring our cars, to know that our investments will not be entirely wasted!

| Update 2: I thought it made good money last time but the buyer has put it back up for sale on ebay for over £9k!! It does look a good car but I doubt it'll fetch that on the same venue so soon afterwards. Time will tell.....

'Rebuilt totally to original specification with the exception of "S" discs and conversion to unleaded.'
Also on dry suspension.
Nice car though. Be interesting to see how long it's up for sale for this time.

Having seen the car I'd say the money it went for first time was strong enough, nine and half grand is ridiculous !
Not quite as nice but slightly more realistic , in fact cheap at the minute ...
