Ian, horses for courses - this isn't usually a problem in the UK.:P Having used these lamps in other applications I'd say they're probably ideally suited to your use.

Stuart, you have mail. If you have a reliable breaker, at decent prices, by all means use that route. Bear in mind, however, that Minispares stock 45 and 70amp alternators at around £1/amp brand new outright sale. I'd agree with Ian regards sourcing relays, auto electricians tend not to supply the cheap nasty varieties - it reflects on them and it's too much trouble to stock one for own use and one for resale. The wiring's not difficult but the diagram should sort any doubts.

Hi Folks,

Some progress being made now......

Found myself a local Mini Specialist who will be helping me with an alternator conversion and the fitting and wiring of the lamps.....great guy he does R/C cars too so I dropped off my two nitro fuel monsters for fixing too!

So some help with the actual lamp bar to fit.....

Mini Spares are the most expensive at over £100 here

http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=33347

Moss have this one at £57.95

http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/SearchResults.aspx?SearchText=gac4616&WebCatalogID=0

Mini Mail have this at £38.50

Anyone know what's best?

Cheers

Stuart

Progress update.... alternator finished and fitted, kept the control box and kept the parts for a return to original when and if required.

Got a beautiful set of Masemco Ltd Terry Hunter Motorway High Back seats which imho look great fitted.....

Starting to fit the works lamp bar this week, I have a lucas plug and socket works style set up with a three pin socket & plug, can anyone tell me how this will be wired in to run 4 Lucas 700 lamps?

How many relays, I will have an on off switch and a long stalk flasher switch will I need?

Stuart
