Have you noticed in a lot of the old sales brochures the cars shown were completely different from the ones sold later.
I have a very early sales brochure for the MKII Copper and 'S' which shows part of the interior of a MKI, in that the bottom dash rail is covered and not padded it has a standard mini ashtray!!!! and the interior was available in different colours. However, the strangest thing that I have not seen before is that the bonnet is the same as a MK I but the moustache surround has been adapted to fit the new angular alloy finishers.
I would attach the brochure showing pictures of these if someone could explain to me how to do it.

I'd take many of the images used in those original brochures with a pinch of salt, because their not always accurate and some were altered to suit. For instance the late MKII Cooper/Cooper S brochure is almost identical to the MKIII Cooper S, but the colour wash is different and they used some process to change the Minis model spec.
As for posting pictures, well the easiest method is to open a Photobucket account and upload them there. Then you just copy and past the IMG CODE information here and hey presto you're images will appear.

There is lots of retouching and incorrect detail on BMC brochures. The first Mk 2 Cooper & S brochure (the blue one) clearly shows a 1966 Mk 1 Cooper.
The first Mk 3 S brochure simply used a retouched version of a Mk 2 S photograph.

A few of those (taken from my own collection) are viewable on my Mini history website: -

I know they're Norton repro's but it still looks booty-licious.

Early Mk2 Coopers got leftover Mk1 interiors. I've never seen one in the flesh, just heard of them and not sure if they got Cooper brocade, deluxe seats or whatever was around at the time.So it could be spot on.

They look powder blue to me,but for a very early mk 2 in island blue i would have expected cumulus grey

| It's fairly safe to say no early Mk2 would have got a Mk1 trim set that had been out of production for two years ! Very likely the owner just fancied the idea to add a bit of colour, odd combo though.

Yes sorry buddy I'm going to hopefully host my site elsewhere soon and then with a bit of luck not suffer the pop ups and banners.
I use Mozilla Firefox though, so it stops pop-ups but I want to improve my site for everyone.

aaah one on E-bay,seem to remember this being on about a year or so ago.

This still doesn't seem quite right though. They look like the mk2 pattern of seat, but just in a light blue colour.
Surely if they were leftover Mk1 seats,as everyone keeps talking about they would be one of the designs as talked about in this tread :-

| The seller's got his wires crossed here. Some early Mk2's had Mk1 seats and a very small number had plain Mk2 Super Delux items .Those are said Mk2 SDL seats. I've seen several early Mk2 cars like this.

| Very few Mk 2 Coopers and S's were built with Mk 1 Cooper trim and less than 400 had the same colour scheme as the Super de Luxe. Last edited on Wednesday September 19th, 2007 05:07 pm by Mk 3 S Meister |

| Late mark 11's also had early Mark 3 colours. Conversely, I've seen one H plate Mini Clubman in Snowberry white with red trim and the slim Elf Hornet door handles.

I must say that on the face of it this looks a very proper car. By coincidence years ago I owned a very early (1967) Mk2 in Island Blue that was registered LDV 48F! As has been said, the seller is confused as the car pictured has a plain 'Super Deluxe' Mk2 interior which very possibly was fitted from new. I too think it has been on ebay before and have no idea what the reserve is of course (maybe it didn't make it last time?) Good looking car though.

Seeing as were all getting obsessive about rarity,i wonder if any factory recliners got covered in SDL trim colours ?

Just wanted to add my bit to this as my wife now owns the car.
The heritage certificate lists the interior as Cumulus Grey and Grey/Gold built 18th September 1967 comission number 247 so a very early car.
John Parnell who wrote THE book saw the car at the recent Come Home to Downton show and was very interested as he had only heard of cars with this interior and not actually seen one, after a number of pictures it looks like he might be using it in his revised book.Attachment: Mini Cooper 02.jpg (Downloaded 72 times)

Well, who knows then! If the Heritage certificate states grey/gold there isn't much sign of gold now. Maybe it was changed at some time... or maybe not. I should just use it and enjoy it. It looked a great little car in the pictures. The grey is a refreshing change from the usual Mk2 black - especially in hot weather !

Richard - You should try my factory black Mk2 with black seats - like opening an oven door sometimes
