Hi Matt,

It certainly looks the same as that on my May 68 Mk2 Cooper. Is there a serial number and model type on the front cover?

Ok so the last wiper motor I found was for a MK1

I have found another NOS DR3A wiper motor but the stamp on the front says: DR3A 12V 75450A

So not sure what this means as a date mark?

Anyone a Lucas expert who know what year this motor might be?

Cheers
Matt

Matt,

Wouldn't say I'm a Lucas expert but I do have a 1968 Lucas parts reference manual for BMC cars!

The Mini wiper motor is listed as being 75456D for all Mk2 models including Cooper/S.

75450D is listed as an Austin A110 Westminster Mk2 motor

Whether the suffix letter changes every year I don't know. If I find anything else I'll let you know.

I too am after a Wiper motor for my 1969 Mk II Cooper 998 and have found the below on Ebay, but not sure if is the right one, can anyone help identify which one I should have  and if this one matches:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120259856445&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123

I've asked the seller for identification numbers with the below reply:

Managed to find some with the aid of wet and dry, chalk and a magnifier glass

75922A
14W PARK
12v 20 77
54071946 the 4 and the 0 are very hard to see so these are a bit of a guess, the numbers are on the front casing plate

Didn't the wiper motor change somewhere during the MK IIs? The early MK IIs had the square bodied DR3A unit part number 75456D which had a two part cover with an auto park system. I guess the bodies that had this have three mounting holes for the wiper. The later MK IIs had the round bodied wiper motors and two mounting holes for the plastic retainers. See AKD5104 plate N8. Page MN10 has the change points. These used the steel strap to hold them down. Like the dizzies, these were all date coded.

Thanks

Nothing like the right one then, I'll let the seller know that "20 77" refers to week and year.

If you are after a DR3A I think I've got one, taken from a low mileage 68 Mk2 I broke up a while back.

Let me know and I'll dig it out and supply numbers etc.

Great, I'll have to check when I'm home so I might not get back to you until next week.

p.s. I'd better explain what exactly I'm doing:

I've had this Cooper about 18 months and got it for a very good price but one of the previous owners for some unknown reason has fitted a Mk III loom, changed the wipers so they now park on the wrong side, which has meant that the dim wit drilled an extra whole in the skuttle panel to facilitate this.

I've now got a new Mk II wiring loom, at at some stage will put it in, so I'm just trying to think of things that will need changing and I must confess I'm only guessing that the wiper motor does as it has a nasty plastic cover on it.

If you are willing to part with it hwo much are you looking for?

I think you'll find thats post Mk111. The motor's similar to that fitted 'till the end of production but I'd guess has a radiused rear rather than the later square edged 'tin can' variety on the Rover cars. I'd suggest removing the cover anyway, all mine ever did was collect muck and damp which didn't help operation.

I'll check what I've got and get back to you. It'll be a sensible price though :)

Not sure if you'll need a Mk2 wiper rack as well. Can anyone else advise on this ?

I've found the motor (and rack assembly if required). It's a DR3A dated 9/68 numbered 75456D which is correct for all Mk2 Mini's that had that type of motor (up to November 1968 according to The Bible). I've hooked it up to a battery and it works!

PM with your email address if you would like to see a picture etc.

Thanks to all of you for your replies.

I'll be checking what I have at the weekend and then will be able to make a decision from there.
