I've had two in the distant past I can think of;
1966 Mini Minor - in factory black with red trim. Registered as EPR165D (I still have the V5) but supplied to Stewart&Arden along with a few more identical cars. I would think it was a cancelled order because EPR is a Dorset number. Indeed, it ended up in Langport in Somerset.
1965 Austin Mini 'basic'. I've never seen another one. This was Maroon B with the tan vinyl trim but has rubber floor covering, just the single speedo (later silver lettering on black face), bare painted lower dash rail with no chrome surround for the switch panel (which was OEW), non opening rear side windows or overriders. My God that car was ROTTEN (this was @1981 or 1982) as was the black Mini Minor. Everything rusted back then and the Mini rotted with the best of them!
Thinking back, a few Minis had knurled alloy covers over the inner sills. The Black Mini Minor had them as did my Grandad's Island blue Austin (a 1965). Was this a BMC optional extra? It made MOT time a bit easier I would think!

I have had a couple of 61/62 cars with the aluminium inner sill finishers, I think they used them when they got a bit short of carpet :-)

One of my Mini's an Oct 62 Super Deluxe had aluminium cross member covers rather than carpet. I think that was an Austin fitment rather than Morris from what I recall when reading the parts manual! I've seen the inner sill ally finishers and think I've got one in amongst all the crap (sorry, spares) in the garage!
My Dad had a new '64 Austin Mini basic with the same items you mention, '618.

| But Minis never got a carpeted cross-member anyway? Except I believe for later models that is?

| The crossmember piece between the front seat and the inner sill is/was covered by carpet on the vast majority of Mini's. Last edited on Wednesday December 13th, 2006 03:30 pm by Andrew1967 |

I was thinking of the cross-member running beneath the front seats from one side of the car to the other. Last edited on Wednesday December 13th, 2006 04:26 pm by taffy1967 |

| I got a boot lid which is double skinned, it has the upper cut out for the hinged number plate but no indent at the bottom for the light.

Hi guys,
When I was restoring my '65 Austin basic 850, I noticed it didn't have the bumper overider notches in the front panel bumper mounting flange. Does this mean that the body was built with the knowledge that it would be a car without overriders? Surely they wouldn't be cut later, would they? Could this be a New Zealand thing?
Regards

I am doing a 63 shell at the moment and only last night we noticed the same thing. No over rider cutouts on the fornt bumper flange. Thcar still has its original front panel, so I guess it's not unique to antipodean cars.

| I seem to remember that my 63 Cooper didnt have the black vinyl around the front screen, but perhaps it had been ripped out when the screen was replaced. Definitely a Cooper shell, chrome door surrounds, boot board etc. Steve.
