Hi ,

Trying to wire a temp gauge to my '61 850 .  When I connect everything up a switch on ignition temp reading is at max .... also when engine is running and its clearly not overheating .

What have I done wrong ?

Thanks

What type of gauge have you fitted? Some are designed to run via voltage stabiliser. You also need to correct sender - the wrong one can make it seem too hot or cold.

Hi - Suggest you get a new sender from DSN classics £3.49 plus p& P and use a smiths gauge ( from later coopers having the scale with graduation marks from cold to hot - having the illumination light at the back of the gauge -at the top) . Works ok on my car . If you want a pic let me know via e mail. Regards Bruce
