Where do we start?
Well, it's got the wrong front ashtray. end of story.
MK II 850 shell? Mk I doors? No trim around doors? And so on ad nauseum. Would it fool anyone?
Cheers.

Wrong ashtray - no doubt about it then
Can't see anything much Cooper about this one apart from the V5 !

Obviously responding to an old thread from the mysterious Glen Ponder. One observation on Island Blue. Before I started wearing green over the shoulder thongs, the great Glen of ponder sold me an Island Blue 1964 850. It had only ever been Island Blue and had the central hinge type sunvisors, post June 63 seat belt mounts, full skirt front panel and dry suspension. So whilst i know nothing about the 1071 discussed above, it is possible 1071s came in Island Blue too.

Ahh yes the mysterious Island Blue early Mk1 that I found languishing in someone's greenhouse ! Forgot about that, can't say I've ever seen another , wonder if I've got some pics of it being retrieved, I'll have a look. It had the grey trim too which I presume would have been the same as a smoke grey 850 ? Mmmm, a year ahead of it's time , that was an odd one. Can't see the factory knocking up one off trim like grey/gold brocade for an Island Blue Cooper in 64 though can you ? Who knows, only the Heritage trace will tell the tale.
Oh the cars we used to find Bob, we should start a thread on that !

£12,000 "PAID CASH" . Lucky old Mike Abbas !
The "Sprint" doesn't look to me to have had the body sides cut does it? Interesting project though if saveable. It does appear to have the boot board brackets and other items so could well have been a "Super". Has Sal spotted it??

it doesn't really look like a sprint to me, more like a top chop project
otherwise the wind shield should be its normal height, shouldn't it?
on the other hand it does have sprint style mirrorsLast edited on Monday April 28th, 2008 08:12 am by masnarda |

A traditional sprint is cut through the body, and through the windows.
This one looks to be cut only thru the windows.

Cutting/lowering the sides was a very time-consuming and expensive process. I always thought they looked fabulous. Much better proportioned than this one. I'd love one but, at over 6 foot I'd probably have to have a bit of body cutting done on myself too .

Well they say that all problems can be overcome so I'm sure someone could sort out your height problem
Probably is a Super as mentioned. Definately one for Sal

TFX913 is a Green 1962 Morris Mini which is taxed.............
The last metallic blue 848cc Mini I bought was a 1967 Cooper S Mk11 with an 850 Van engine and pudding stirrer gearbox.
For £30 in 1986.
It would be worth getting an HPI check done and finding out the chassis number and seeing what it is. That could be a 997 Cooper.

Do you think such work would be entertained on the NHS though Andrew ?? If so...
That car's only in Swindon, not too far away . Perhaps I should go and look .

Less deserving treatment is carried out under the NHS.
If that fails you could apply for a grant from the National Lottery good causes fund.

That's a good idea, I'll try that too although I understand that the form filling is rather onerous .

Be interesting to get some more close up photo's.I can't quite make out what's going on with what looks like the remains of the guttering above the drivers door. Some more clues (speedo) etc for the cooper vs super argument.

I wonder if the buyer minds having his details splashed all over the interweb on that receipt ?! Nice . I'd take that figure with a pinch of salt though cos after that guy bought the car it reappeared for sale on Abbas website again for the rest of last year at twelve big ones and remained unsold unsurprisingly.Looks like he took it back maybe when it dawned on him he'd paid a massive sum of cash for a LHD custard yellow Mk1 Mini with a GT engine in it !
