I don't know what you mean
According to 1071bob's link, it's unlicenced rather than SORN'd.

| On the face of it, £3,000 isn't expensive for a restorable Mk1 'S' but like most of them (and particular ex-competition cars) it's unlikely to contain much of the original car! Possibly someone attached a 'cherished' plate at some time? Could be a very late registered 1071 or, more likely, someone fitted a 1071 engine at some stage in the past..... A Heritage trace would answer a lot of questions I suppose, and remember that a Mk1 S ID could fetch £1500 or so....

Could be a very late registered 1071
There are a few 1965 and 66 registered 1071S but the YME plate dates from 1960 so it could be a built up vehicle. A friend enquired as to the chassis number a couple of days ago but surprise, surprise, as our Cilla would say, no response yet.

| Well that isn't a 1071 engine number or original chassis number so it may well have been a built up vehicle way back when it was registered

I believe it was possible once to persuade the registration authorities to 'title' a built up car as a "Mini Cooper S" or whatever you wanted really....so that may explain it all. Will certainly have an effect on its value.
Probably not quite so easy now to persuade the DVLA.
