I would say it is a Mk1 shell - and probably not a Cooper one at that. The photos don't show the boot area or the lower dash rail/switch panel area which would be a giveaway. It has the smaller rear windscreen of a Mk1 which would be hard to change and the piano hinge rear quarter windows.....Ask yourself why would anyone go to the trouble.........How long has he owned it, and how many previous owners? Not many current owners of 1960s Coopers can really know all that happened to their cars in the past and re-shelling/ID swaps has gone on for years.
It makes no difference if you just want a fun Mini but such a car does not have the monetary value of a correct or original one. It is looking expensive to me for a car with such an incorrect spec, however it came to be.

You can (just) see the lower (painted) dashrail in the interior shot, the trouble with these types of car (described as original) is the new owner may turn up at a show with the car, then leave feeling ripped off by the seller when they find out it they haven't bought the car they thought they had, it's alot of money for a 'clone'

| I could see that the lower rail is painted (which it shouldn't be on a Mk1 OR Mk2!). What is out of shot is the centre around the switch housing. This is a different shape on the 2 models hence my comment.

No offence intended by my previous reply , I suspect if we could see the panel it would be a MK1 shaped one, (to go with the rest of the MK1 shell its attached to!) not the slightly elongated one that goes with the padded lower dash rail on the MK2, I was referring to the fact it was painted, which is, as you say, is another sign of the car being incorrect

In that film, Steven Ward drove an XK150. Only Mini in the film was an early Farina grey Mark 1.

Well, he's certainly not very clued up about Minis if he thinks that Mk2 additions would have been fitted to make the car period correct for the film 'Scandal' which depicted a period several years prior to Mk2 introduction...... And - a hydrolastic 1962 Mini??
Blatant use of a 1962 ID and a Mk2 Mini I would say.
Our company supply cars for film/TV and although cars are often altered to suit a particular role, we'd probably never work again if we sent something as inaccurate as that !

| Well, at least (IF someone ever finishes the project) it'll have a correct period shell I suppose......There's still a lot of work to do to that shell though isn't there!

| Interesting use of a proper Cooper exhaust bracket and what the devil is going on with that front panel?

| Not alot of brocade on that car for the money either is there ?! Someone's been down to Halfords for a few spray cans of black gloop too, that'll double the price. I do remember seeing it on the Yorkshire Classic rally about ten years ago.

A very rare 9 stud Cooper S head, no less.
'No holes' - now that's a worry on a cylinder head

The vendor's description "Not messed with at all. No dodgy skimming ". It looks to me that it has been done with a sander, and my guess it has been.
