does any one have any info on the original 1966 mini cooper race car driven by rhodes.i am purchasing his original 1966 cooper he restored himself into the direct replica of his race car.does any one know where the original race car is now.any help is greatly appreciated regards mike
I think most of the original cars got sold on for competition use, with no registration numbers ( except 188 XPG & the GPH range ) & probably no chassis numbers tracing an original car ( should one turn up! ) would be a nightmare . At least the rally boys get a number plate for their money!
Johns car from what I remember was in a road spec' rather than out & out period race replica , or is this going to change?
i am going to make a few changes.i am goind to fit cooper s brakes to the front because i find the 7 inch disks very scary in todays traffic.i am also going to improve the suspension by going to dry with hilo's gas dampers ect.the rest of the car is staying the same.the engine is going to have a rebuild with a few tweeks so staying 998.i like the 998 find it torquey and free revving.thats about it really just a couple of sensible modifications that can be put back if need be as i am keeping all the bits and not selling them on ebay for stupid money like some people .kind regards mike
