Having read the ad for this event in the latest MCR mag I'm curious to know why previous entrants to Minis To Monte get a £200 discount on the fee of £1275 .
Have I misunderstood the ad ?

| I think it is a discount of £204 to make the price £1071. Should it be seen as a way of saying 'Thank you' to valued customers?

It is a way of thanking those for taking part in the past.
After the first event in 2004, it made a well documented loss. Some of those who took part in 2004 sent in donations to reduce the impact of the loss. It was the club's first attempt at running anything like this on such a large scale.
With the experience gained from the first attempt, for 2006 we were better able to manage the costs of running the event. With this the event ran at at profit.
The reduced entry fee is the Club's way of saying thankyou for supporting the previous events.
The news on the the event is that we have booked the hotels and paid a holding deposit. We have had nearly 50 enquiries for the event, with only 30 places available a quarter of these have already been taken.

Thanks for the reply.
I can understand the reasons for the discount but to me there'll be quite a few people out there who aren't in a position to do this sort of thing on a regular basis , either financially or in terms of their other commitments to family holidays during the year, this being the case I think it could be seen as the newcomer being penalised to the tune of £204 for not previously having the opportunity to take part. Surely a way to thank those lucky regulars would be to keep the price down across the board ? Wouldn't have thought these sort of selective 'discounts' would be necessary for an event which will likely be oversubscribed .

Having completed the 2004 event, I feel like some others the discount should be spread across the whole event and membership alike, and not offered to the select few who can more than afford the entrance fee every year. Otherwise it will turn into a Select Club within a Club. Keep the pricing keen for all members to have the opportunity to participate in an excellent event which promotes the club.

If I read it correctly in the latest magazine the 2006 event made £12000 profit which is about £400 per car.
Am I alone in thinking that that is a little excessive on an event costing £1600?
