So, who is going along to Castle Combe this Saturday for the MCR Cooper Day.?

Hopefully my 8 Port Mini will be behaving itself this year.

The weather could be a little 'challenging' for those of us camping again.:?

I'm going, but not with Mk3 as I had a coming together with another competitor on the Cloverleaf Rally last Sunday so will take my Lombard prepared car.
Looking forward to it and hope to see lots of MCR members spectating if not taking part.
Just hope the ECU works !!!!!

Sorry, can't give full details at the moment but will in time as it was on a test. All I can say is that it pays to restore cars properly and prepare them for their intended use. Despite the temptation to save weight for competition (on the car not me) I did not remove the overriders and they with the steel bumper absorbed most of impact. The car was driven home and there were no injuries to driver & navigator, thankfully. Are your going to Castle Combe ?

Just got back from my first "Coopers at Combe" A great event and well worth the trip. My Lombard car appears sorted now, Graham even organised very wet weather so that I could replicate the conditions on the way to the start at York when the ECU packed up. Not quite sure about the 12" regulation tyres though in the dry but they weren't bad on a wet circuit track but performance from a standard mpi engine is c**p. 0-60 mph time - maybe sometime this year or this decade !!!!!!! Aceelaration - perhaps.
A pity about the weather but well worth going to spectate and chat to MCR members who braved the weather.

All,

a truly fantastic day.

I even managed to get my Arden 8 Port Mini on song, and despite the rain, enjoyed some wonderful track time.

Big thanks to Graham Robinson for making it all happen !

I really enjoyed my sessions.

My engine/box was only 80miles old from a fresh rebuild and all held together well except for the dynamo falling off on the first session. After someone kindly donated a couple of bolts, all was well.

Alas, at the end of the 3rd session, my brake master failed and the thought of pumping the pedal and using the handbrake in the wet was too much for me to bear ..... Thanks to Graham as well.  Matt

PS Anyone got any photos of the day ?

Not sure about members taking photos but there was a local photographer at circuit - £10 for a 7 x 5 mounted print. Can't remember his name but will see if sticker is still in my car and post another reply.

Hi Shaddy,

Regarding places e'mail  Graham'E'Robinson the Cooper Mk2 Registrar asap, his mail address is at the front of the MCR mag.

Camping is normally allowed and there is a small toilet/shower block albeit very basic, best to check with Graham.

Hope you get a place, Graham and his helpers put on a 1st class day.

Regards Jon
