The MCR has a sprint championship in the Midlands. Many other members compete at various venues around the country. Your best bet is to buy a copy of the blue book from the MSA. This will give you details on the minimum requirements for sprint and hillclimb events, sometimes known as speed events.
It may have changed recently, but I understand that it was possible to use a road going car with only a few small changes for safety that could be carried out easily. The driver was required to wear fireproof overalls and a helmet, both approved by the MSA.
If you join the MCR this will gain you entry to a number of events around the country and will also put you in contact with other members who compete.
Check out the link from the MCR site to the Midland Speed Championship for details of the 2007 event. They have recently added the regulations. With regard to the MSA website the best way to find the blue book is to use the Licence application link.
To take part in hillclimbing or sprinting you will need a competition licence, blue book comes with it.
Membership of the MCR will get you entry to Midland Champ events and there is a class for standard cars.
