Anyone going to this?
Just thought I'd ask - I can't commit as I don't know if I'll be working yet (changing jobs!), but I am moving to a place 15 - 20 mins from the circuit - it'd be good to put faces to names.
And only 5 cars on the track at a time! Hopefully I'll be able to say for certain for next year, and living so close, does anyone know if Castle Coombe hosts bike track days?

Can't manage this one myself. Coombe does have bike days though.
If you're going to be living there you could poke your head into Marcos's place (which is very close). I had a look at one of their new Mini Marcos demo cars' last time I went to the MiniWorld Action day at Coombe. Appalling weather though so couldn't work out how much I liked it.

mj66, I'll look out for your car when I move down there in a couple of weeks - expect lots of questions about where things are in the area....
....if you don't mind
I trust you'll be going to watch on the 9th Aug? And the reason for asking about the bike track days is I do occasionally like to go fast (well faster than the min can manage!) so might be tempted to put the track bodywork back on, mirrors/indicators off and get some knee down action! It'd be rude not to, living so close.

Might well do that nige - I would quite like to build a 'new' mini marcos from scratch (once I've got everything done to the mini....Oh, and won the lottery!)
While I think about it, do you know (or anyone else for that matter) if there's a motorsport company near to Castlecoombe which has a rolling road? I seem to remember it being mentioned somewhere. It would be handy to have on the doorstep for a couple of projects I've got in mind! (expect details in the new section )

Hi, I think some of the guys at Marcos could help you 'out of hours' with help on a build if you needed it. I did ask when I was there. I had considered a Marcos myself, if only to avoid the perennial rust demon.
Re. rolling road I think Slark Racing must be somewhere in the area. Don't know them but personally but I think they must know their Minis pretty well.

Just a quick update on this thread - I definitely can't make the 9th, but...
I am looking to do a couple of sessions at the Mini World track day on 27th Sep 08. So anyone else going along? It'd be great to get a few of us together.
And being so close I will probably be popping along to the Rally car day at (I think) the begining of Sep. Should be good!
